WHAT IS THE GLOBAL WARMING DIET?
In light of the many recent articles on global warming, it is interesting so few address what effect the industrial-chemical-agricultural system has on the problem. A recent U.N. report sites livestock and food production systems as responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, more than cars, planes and all transportation combined. And the average meals travels at least 1500 miles to get to your dinner plate. Has our "Standard American Diet" (SAD), become the "Global Warming Diet" too?
A SOLUTION
The Global Warming Diet is a new book, written by Chef Laura Stec, with Eugene Cordero Ph.D, Professor of Meteorology at San Jose State. It highlights how the food system affects climate change and how climate change will affect food choices. The Global Warming Diet offers personal and business solutions to the problem and closes with "cooking classes," recipes, and how-to’s on a global cooling cusine; the ultimate "Low-Carb Solution."
WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?
Release date for the book is 2008, but check the events calendar for upcoming presentations and cooking classes.
